Aircraft interior specialists, MacCarthy Aviation, has been awarded a significant contract with British Airways to refurbish galleys on five Boeing 767 aircraft. British Airways is currently carrying out a refresh of the majority of its Boeing 767 fleet and the contract awarded to MacCarthy consists of galley refurbishments on four long haul and one short haul aircraft.

The work package consists of the replacement of damaged and missing parts, a change of décor, repainting of the entire units and continuity checks and bonding, all within a ten day turnaround time. The contract will commence in April 2012 with the refurbishment work being carried out at MacCarthy Aviations facility in Salfords, Surrey, UK.

MacCarthy has received its first order for upgrading the B737-800 ‘Sky Interior’ for Russian Airline Transaero.

“Our relationship with Transaero has developed steadily over the year, providing toilet upgrades across their B737 fleet in the business class cabin”, explains Phil Francis, Sales Director. “This new order is for two stowages, two fixed class dividers and one moveable class divider for the B737-800 “Sky Interior.”

Working with the customer our Industrial design team have designed the removable class dividers in tune with the interior of the aircraft. Challenges they had to overcome included working around the PSU installations, new bin shape, designing a new pelmet and keep the mood of the cabin interior consistent between classes.

MacCarthy Aviation has also been upgrading galleys across Transaero’s B737 and B767 fleet, introducing nespresso coffee makers to the Business class cabin. Upgrades to all lavatories in the Transaero B767 fleet for both Economy and Business class have also been undertaken ensuring the Transaero image and customer experience is enhanced to the highest level.
